GI Disorders

Current studies suggest that there is a link between acupuncture and different levels of the central nervous system. Both the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems relay the impulses of the gut to the brain. Using functional imaging of the nervous system scientists are now able to see activations in different parts of the brain that are connected to the GI system when acupuncture needles are inserted. Thus. the regulations of the GI tract is likely caused by signals sent to the brain from the needles.
